Augustine Kou
Augustine works for Voice of America Service Station in Liberia and is the founder, Gems Kids Foundation for kids & Impart Liberia for youths contributing to the recovery process of Liberia. He is studying sociology at the College of Liberal Arts.
Born just into the buildup to the war which officially began in December 1989, Augustine started his primary education at the St. Michael Catholic School where he continued up to secondary and obtained a Senior High Diploma and Senior High West African Examination Council Certificate as a Class Prefect. During his stay as a student he earned few certificates for his outstanding performances.
In 2007 a year after his graduation from high school, he enrolled at the African Methodist Episcopal University in Monrovia and started in the College of Business but later swapped to the College of Liberal Arts where he’s now studying Sociology after knowing his desire to become a social worker was a top agenda item.
Augustine is instrumental in several projects which respond to the fast improvement of youth and kids. He has established the Gems Kids Foundation for kids and Impart Liberia for youths to contribute to the recovery process of Liberia.
Zekar L Payweyne
Zekar is the Executive Director of Action Oriented Minds (www.aomliberia.blogspot.com).
commenced his primary education at the Pioneer Baptist 1990 but was interrupted due to the inception of the civil crisis in Liberia. In 2005, he graduated from the Shirley Kolmer High School with three awards; High Honor, Most Cooperative, and Hard Working Student. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications in 2011 from the African Methodist Episcopal University.
His passion for youth driven initiatives developed when he sought refuge in Ghana during the heat of the Liberian civil crisis in 1996.
Zekar founded and served as president of the Voice of Shirley Press Club in 2003, served as president of the Health Club in 2004, and parliamentarian for the Hi-Y (YMCA club) in 2004. He also served as President of the Shirley Kolmer Alumni association in 2007. He is currently the Executive Director for Action Oriented Minds a local youth organization and the Chairman of the Movement Against Violence.
As a youth activist, Zekar has participated in several youth programs, talk shows, debates, written several articles, and internet blogs etc. His advocacy and activities has earned him honors and awards from various institutions in Liberia. In 2009, he was selected as a Student parliamentarian representing the African Methodist Episcopal University.
He is the initiator of the Volunteers 2day Leaders 2morrow Campaign in and the Campus Volunteers Club in Liberia. This program has been very instrumental in getting young Liberians to engage into active volunteerism.
Zekar obtained a B.A. degree in Mass Communications from the African Methodist University in 2011. He is a Christian, a Nationalist and a Youth Advocate.
